Playground Art Prize 2020

10.Jun - 25.Jul 2020

The promotion of young artists is very close to our hearts. With this in mind, since 2016 our annual exhibition series PLAYGROUND has offered young artists the opportunity to present their work to a wider audience and make their first contacts in the art world. Initially launched as a regional project, the PLAYGROUND ART PRIZE 2020 was announced nationwide for the second time.

We are pleased to present the three winners of the PLAYGROUND ART PRIZES 2020 in our upcoming exhibition, awarded by this year's international jury with Samuel Leuenberger (SALTS / Art Basel Parcours) | Elisa Linn & Lennart Wolff (KM Temporaer) | Christoph Tannert (Künstlerhaus Bethanien) | Prof. Dr. Felicitas Thun-Hohenstein (AdbK Vienna) | Yasha Young (URBAN NATION).

1st place: Alice Hauck & Amelie Plümpe (UdBK Berlin, both 9th semester, sculpture and installation)
The artist duo moves between sculpture, painting and installation and treats the design directions of architecture, industrial design and urban space with sculptural means and techniques.

2nd place: Hilke Heithecker (Kassel School of Art, 9th semester, Visual Arts).
Through observations of the everyday in public urban space, she compiles snapshots of big city life and makes the city the experimental field of her artistic work.

3rd place: Ramona Schacht (HGB Leipzig, 10th semester, Photography, Prof. Heidi Specker)
The advancing digitalization and the communication system it has changed have a profound effect on our everyday lives. In her work, she examines how this consumer culture influences direct human-to-human contact: our ability and willingness to form bonds and the ability to allow intimacy.
