11.Nov - 28.Feb 2026

Vivid in colour and dynamic in expression, the works of the three gallery artists – Aatifi,Laura Aberham and Yijie Gong – create a captivating atmosphere in this curated group exhibition through their fluid interplay of colour.

The artworks range from impulsive, energy-charged brushstrokes to meditative compositions in which transitions of colour and texture flow seamlessly. Calligraphic lines and subtle gradients construct intense spatial dimensions that draw the viewer in and captivate their gaze.

Through deliberate brushwork and precise colour choices, powerful colour worlds emerge, revealing different layers of sensuousness. The artists' works enter into a dialogue that culminates in a flow of movement and expressive brushstrokes. In this process, their unique artistic signatures merge to create a fascinating interplay of colour and gesture. The artists invite visitors to lose themselves in the organic surfaces and sweeping lines of their works, and to experience the subtle tensions between chaos and harmony.

Aatifi

The Kandahar-born artist Aatifi, who trained as a calligrapher as a child and later received a degree in painting from Kabul University, combines in his "scriptural art" the traditional, oriental art of writing with elements of modern, European art in an innovative and masterly way. At the core of his paintings lies the light-hearted dance of the letters, which takes the viewer on a journey into previously unknown realms of art. Even without deciphering distinct letters, the observer is welcomed to experience the beauty of the colors, which model the tension of the forms and their spatial effect, as well as their intense, aesthetic radiance. The characters, consisting of broad brushstrokes, form voluminous figures on the light background, individual splashes of paint expose traces of the painting process and offer a certain spontaneity to the works created under the highest concentration.

Laura Aberham

The paintings created by the artist Laura Aberham, who lives and works in Düsseldorf, are defined by their color intensity and incredible dynamic. Her use of color and form is confident and extremely powerful, and her mostly large-scale, abstract works appear gestural and at the same time precisely composed. Laura Aberham's paintings are a tribute to color. With gestural, voluminous brushstrokes, she skillfully brings unusual color constellations onto the canvas in many layers; here, color itself becomes the concept. The artist, who graduated from the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf as a master’s student under the direction of Ellen Gallagher, found her very own artistic style through her very physical approach to color. At the beginning of her studies, she attended sculpture classes, where she internalized her experiences with volume and dynamics. She continued to apply her experiences with structure, form, and space into her paintings. Due to their spatiality and physical dynamics, Laura Aberham's works appear to continue beyond the edge of the canvas into the space of the viewer.

Yijie Gong

From an early age, Yijie Gong engaged in the practice of traditional Chinese painting, demonstrating a particular affinity for the use of colour. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies in China, she elected to pursue further education in the field of art in Germany. The artist's works reflect her thoughts about human nature and aesthetics. She draws inspiration from the contemplation of landscape, incorporating aspects of Chinese painting techniques to bridge the gap between her cultural heritage and the Western art world. Her contemplative colour field paintings create backdrop-like spatial experiences with a suggestive depth effect, making the colour visually and almost physically tangible.
