The term "gleaming" is used to describe an orange-red reverberation, which represents a moment of reflection. The current exhibition is structured around this concept. The works of Miriam Vlaming prompt the viewer to recall the final rays of summer. Her large-format egg tempera works on canvas evoke the warmth of days gone by, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in the tranquil melancholy and golden light of late summer.
Laura Aberham's work 'Connection' also explores sensuality as an essential aspect of artistic creation. The sweeping lines and loops of her work evoke associations with musical rhythms and encourage the viewer to explore the concept of connection. Connections to other people, to one's inner world and to nature are explored. The predominant orange tones, ranging from delicate peach to earthy terracotta, convey an atmosphere of lightness, curiosity and joy in interpersonal and universal connection.
In their works, the artist duo Casagrande & Recalcati focus on the themes of decay and transience. The floral depictions, which include the delicate bud as well as the wilted blossom, symbolise the cycle of life. The idea of vanitas, the transience of all earthly things, is impressively captured in her works in vibrant colours and forms, celebrating the beauty of every phase of existence.
In her most recent works, Chinese artist Yijie Gong expands her predominantly blue-green colour palette to include intense orange tones. Her technique, which is based on traditional Chinese painting and is realised in oil on cotton, creates dreamlike, almost meditative pictorial surfaces. The softly merging colours invite the eye to wander and allow the viewer to immerse themselves in the experience of pure colour.
The metaphorical interpretation of the glow manifests itself in Leszek Skurski's current works. The works unfold not in a blazing, but in a gentle, steady manner. The slow, restrained presence of the works demands an intimate examination in which the colours and forms gradually reveal themselves to the viewer's eye.
The diverse artistic positions come together in the ‘GLEAMING’ to create a fascinating interplay of light, colour and emotion that delves deep into the experience of glowing and inner reflection.
