We are happy to be in Seoul again this year!
We present from 07 - 10 September 2023 our artists:
Leszek Skurski was born in Gdansk and has lived and worked in Fulda for many years. His paintings tell of an infinite expanse without horizon and boundaries, mostly kept only in white. But this white is laid out in many sensitive layers, have the finest nuances and challenge the eye to explore the sensitive brushstrokes, strong putty surfaces and finest traces of work. In this multi-layered white, Skurski sketches his people with a few striking brushstrokes, seemingly helplessly exposed to emptiness, but also acting confidently. These skillfully abstracted individuals assert themselves confidently in their boundlessly vast surroundings. And it is precisely this powerful contrast of infinite surface and small human figures that creates this strong dramaturgy of his paintings.
In his paintings, Rayk Goetze addresses the great themes, motifs firmly anchored in the tradition of art history. Goetze is a calendar alchemist, he detaches the motif from its context and transfers it to the present. On the one hand, his paintings combine old-masterly precision of color application with strong, two-dimensional color application and, with their somberly luminous colorfulness, create a special aura and tension that transfer the paintings to the present day.
The paintings of the artist Laura Aberham, who lives and works in Düsseldorf, are defined by their color intensity and an incredible dynamism. Her handling of color and form is confident and extremely powerful; her mostly large-format, abstract works appear gestural and, as it were, precisely composed. Laura Aberham's painting is a tribute to color. With gestural, voluminous brushstrokes, she skillfully brings unusual color constellations onto the canvas in many layers; here, color itself becomes the concept.
Constantin Schroeder's figurative paintings are impressive, touching images with depth, his pictorial protagonists fascinating characters that do not let us go. Internalizing the present with all its facets, he uses a very reduced color palette. Mostly executed in large format, the scenes captivate the recipient with their characteristic narrative. Schroeder reaches deep into the archive of the human psyche. His works display an enigmatic iconography, young heroes pose interpersonal riddles.
